My 5 year old, Mims, is learning to crochet. It is very fun, but it's also pretty challenging for her. She wanted to make a project using the recycled #6 plastic shrink art that she made. I wanted to help her make something to show off her new chaining skills! So we made a:
Junior Dynamo Crochet Necklace
Supplies:
1 shrink plastic charm, made with a single hole at the top (go HERE to learn how to make them!)
Small amount of crochet thread, craft cord, or embroidery floss (we used craft cord)
Size G crochet hook
Scissors
Slide the charm onto the cord. Make a slip knot in the starting end of the cord.
Make 50 chains (approximately 9"). Slide the charm up to the hook. Make your next chain with the thread from behind the charm, so that the charm dangles from the bottom loop.

Awww, you know I have a special fondness for shrink plastic (and sometimes wonder if I should have been a Shrink Plastic Engineer rather than a Mad Crochet Scientist). Love this! Recycling AND fun!
